WASTE MANAGEMENT

Human beings produce waste all the time, often even without thinking about it. Not only their economic and industrial activities generate waste, but their daily lives and industrial activities do the same.

The more wealth increases, the more the volume of waste increases, and the more quantity of natural resources diminishes. Waste management finds its main objective here: protecting the plant against over-consumption, which humans may one day dearly pay.

By 2020, we would be producing 45% more waste than in 1995, an increase that will take its heavy toll on the environment. One of the main goals of IPDC and its principals is to limit as far as possible the negative effect in terms of:

Air
Climate
Water
Soil
Neighborhood

There are various categories of solid waste mentioned as under:

Household Waste
Non-hazardous Industrial Waste
Special Waste
Medical Waste
Agricultural Waste
Building Site Waste (Construction and Demolition Waste)

Such a categorization of waste is necessary for defining the best-suited treatment procedure.

One of the greatest challenges today for conserving our environment is to reduce the volume of waste, but also, and most importantly, to realize that this waste can be a precious resource.

There are many reasons for reclaiming waste:

Preservation

Reclaiming waste means preserving raw materials, which are not limitless. All human activity consists in creating wealth by using one product to make another. Waste can be this product, which when transformed, can become a useful material, and in some cases, a genuine “secondary raw material”.

Savings

The use of secondary raw materials limits production and transformation costs.

Anticipation

In this field, as in many others, we need to anticipate changes in the market, in particular, the energy market. In the long term, it is inevitable that the price of the raw materials will rise.

Waste is reclaimed in different ways:

Material Recovery

Material recovery from waste consists in using all or part of the waste materials so that, once transformed, they can become the raw material for new products.

Energy Recovery

Energy recovery from waste consists in using waste’s calorific power, by burning them and recovering the energy produced. For example, Biogas – a fuel resulting from the fermentation of organic wastes – can be used to produce electricity or as a clean fuel.

Biological Recovery

Biological recovery can be used to enrich depleted soils. It consists in treating and recycling biodegradable waste; the organic matter contained in waste, after composting or methanation, is used as fertilizer for agriculture or gardening. Biological recovery provides an alternative to chemical fertilizers. It concerns household biowaste, organic waste from industry, agricultural waste, sludge from sewage plants etc.

We are active in following five areas:

Waste Collection (Traditional and Selective)
Sorting and Recycling
Biological Recovery and Waste to Energy Conversion
Domestic and Industrial Waste Storage
Urban, Rural and Industrial Cleaning Services

In terms of service offerings, we emphasize the industrial customer, which implies in particular the expansion of industrial hazardous waste treatment, and movement toward the vertical integration of waste streams, associating treatment with collection.

The principals of IPDC are one of the world leaders in waste management, having a market presence in more than 30 countries. They provide the complete range of waste services, from collection through waste-to-energy conversion and land filling in approved installations for both municipal and industrial customers.
